Séamus Brannick is our Master Craftsman here at Higgins & Company in Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland. Séamus uses his vast shearing skills to individually hand cut each of our Eternity Gifts. 'The Eternity Gift' is made from 100% pure wool and carefully crafted by Séamus for your lasting enjoyment.

Over the past 40 years Séamus has practiced and mastered his shearing craft. Séamus competed in the All-Ireland sheep shearing championships from 1966 to 1995. He won the All-Ireland Shearing Championship on one occasion and was second nine times. Séamus held the Irish record for the most sheep caught and shorn in nine hours, the number was 358 sheep and the record stood for 16 years.

Séamus had a shearing challenge with the world record holder in 1976 whose record was 609 in nine hours, and Séamus beat him in that challenge. Séamus competed in the World Shearing Championships twice, first in England in 1997 and finished 13th and the second time in New Zealand in 1980. He was team manager for the Irish team in 1994, 1996, 1998 and also judged at these world competitions.

Séamus was the first sheep-shearing instructor to be appointed in Ireland. He trained for this job in England, Scotland and New Zealand. The course covered the teaching technique and all aspects of shearing equipment. He has taught most of the top shearers in Ireland. Séamus was instrumental in setting up the Sheep Shearing Association, and was chairman for fifteen years. The Association is the governing body over the All-Ireland Championships. Séamus has been the chief judge of these competitions for the last five years.
